COVER LETTER / COVER PARAGRAPHS:
I believe in short, sweet, strategic cover letters/paragraphs. Two types exist. The first is the paragraph you use if you are applying online for a specific position at a specific company. It is highly focused on that firm and that job and what you can do for them. It may or may not be seen by the hiring mangager. It may be simply used on the application field/box used on an automated job application. It MAY be the thing that gets a screener to look at your resume!
The second type of cover letter/paragraph is one which goes into a personalized email or snail mail document sent directly to the hiring manager or company executive. It may be an inquiry about potential employment or it could regard a specific, known open position. In either case, the second "direct" cover letter/paragraph is highly strategic and is very different than the generic cover letter. The biggest difference is that this version goes directly to a key person at the employer.
